Fabienne Huygen

© E. ChalmetFabienne Huygen graduated from the Royal Institute for Ballet in Antwerp and followed various international dance courses. She danced at the Royal Ballet of Flanders (both in the Travelling Group and at the Opera) and with the modern Compagnie Aimé de Lignière. She graduated as ballet teacher from the Higher Institute for Dance in Lier, and worked as a dance teacher at the Royal Academies of Genk and Sint-Niklaas. Currently she teaches at the Conservatory of Mechelen.

Apart from dancing Fabienne developed a deep interest in yoga from a very early age on, and started her discovery into the essence of movement and sound. She developed courses such as ‘Dance Your Self‘ — a form of meditative and expressive experiencing in which the healing aspect plays a central role — she gave classes at Dance studio Pivolté in Brasschaat and now teaches yoga at Radiant Light Yoga in Wilrijk. Fabienne followed a complete classical singing education at the Music Academy in Antwerp and enrolled in courses to become a Soundhealer. She currently gives workshops to individuals and groups such as mantraflow, soundhealing and free your voice. Fabienne sees yoga, sound and movement as a united and integral method for becoming a whole.

© G. LarosseThe Indian culture most certainly formed a major theme in Fabienne’s development. She experiences Indian dance as a prayer. She first came in contact with Bharata Natyam (classical Indian ballet) and followed lessons with Jetty Roels. In The Hague she completed her repertoire with Sittra Bonoo. To further explore the various Indian dance styles, she took classes with Maya Sapera, and now dances choreographies in styles such as Bollywood, gypsy dance, Kathak, and also modern Indian fusion.

Fabienne was solo dancer in the successful musical Ganesh, The Perfect God. She performs in children’s theater of Sterrencirkels vzw, focusing on the integral development of the authentic child. She is listed in the program of Kleur Bekennen (intercultural education) as yoga teacher and gives workshops Indian dance and Bollywood. Fabienne is also the mother of Yamuna, one of our youngest dancers.
